Stuart Kettlewell insists he remains hard at work to bring fresh faces to Fir Park this summer.
The Motherwell manager is yet to make a new signing ahead of the Premiership campaign kicking off on August 5, although the club have retained striker Jon Obika and midfielder Harry Paton after the duo signed new deals last month.
Key departures including last season’s star striker Kevin van Veen and midfielder Dean Cornelius have left big gaps to plug, while full-back Max Johnston looks to have snubbed a new deal in search of a new club and the likes of Sean Goss and Dan Casey are yet to renew their contracts.
Motherwell took striker Josh Fowler from sixth-tier side Beith, who play in the West of Scotland Premier Division, to Holland for the club’s pre-season training camp, and he got a run out as a trialist
The Steelmen ran out 1-0 winners over HSC Haaksbergen and 6-0 victors against SC Longa '30 last week.
But fans will be frustrated by the lack of transfer activity so far.
Speaking at the end of the club’s camp, Kettlewell told the supporters he is doing all he can to strengthen the Steelmen.
He said: “We’re working exceptionally hard to see if we can make additions to the squad.
“It has been a more timely process than what we would have hoped but I can reassure people we’re working as hard as we can just to add reinforcement and give us a stronger depth to our squad.
“I’m sure given time that will start to transpire.
“It is no secret there’s a number of big players that went out the door or haven’t returned that were pivotal in what was an unbelievable 14 matches under my reign.
“So I think everyone will see that maybe leaves us short in depth to our squad and potentially that profile in how we want to play.”
