Ross Tierney knows Motherwell need to find the clinical edge they showed at Ross County if they are to stun Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals tonight.
The Steelmen netted five times in the Highlands earlier this month but haven’t picked up a result since.
They were on the end of a 1-0 loss to Hibernian in Edinburgh and on Sunday suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Rangers.
On the positive side, performances have been strong, including a in a 2-1 defeat to Celtic at the start of the month.
But Tierney knows they must turn these displays into results and they can't afford to pass up chances if they want to deliver a knockout blow to Celtic.
The Irish winger said: "We are getting a bit disappointed in ourselves that we keep saying we are playing well against top opposition but not getting the results.
"It's results that make the difference.
"We've got a good squad and we are full of confidence so we will look forward to Wednesday.
"We've shown all season that we can play well. We are just getting annoyed at ourselves that we are not getting results.
"In some games we are scoring four or five and then in the next one we can't score. At Ross County we were unbelievable, we couldn't miss. Then we went to Hibs and we couldn't score.
"We just need to knuckle down because we know the form will come. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later.
"We need to be more clinical, myself included."
Tierney was frustrated with his own display against Rangers at the weekend and added: "I don't think I had a shot against Rangers which is very disappointing.
"People can see how well we are playing but we can't keep doing that and not getting results."
Tonight's match at Fir Park is a 6.15pm kick-off.
