Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell has warned it’s not ‘job done’ after his side’s 3-1 win over Hibs at Easter Road moved them up to eighth place in the Premiership table.
But the Steelmen gaffer says it does tee them up for two massive home games against Livingston and Dundee United in the next 10 days.
A double from Kevin van Veen and a fabulous Sean Goss free kick saw ’Well move 11 points clear of bottom side Dundee United and nine off Ross County in the play-off slot.
They’re also six behind seventh-placed Livi, and Kettlewell has already turned his attention to Saturday’s Fir Park clash.
He said: “I’ve said to the players that *it doesn’t become that we just enjoy three points at Easter Road and think that our job is done.
“I think what it does is it tees us up into two massive games that come.
“I’ll single that down to Livingston. I’m not even looking beyond that, but I know we’ve got two home games coming.
“If we get the performance and standards that we had on Saturday, then I think we give ourselves a really good chance in the next two.”
Kettlewell says it’s not a sense of relief that they’ve moved up to eighth, given the position Motherwell were in when he took over, but he thrives under pressure, anyway.
He said: “You’re never going to come into a job when everything’s rosy and working well.
“I get the best out of myself, and I think you get the best out of players, when that bit of pressure is on.
“I think we’re trying to put pressure on ourselves, to be honest.
“I think football players and coaching staff are at their best when there is pressure on.
“If there’s no pressure, I don’t think you excel or are at your best.
“We have our own targets, but we’re trying to narrow that down to the next game.
“We’re just trying to build some sort of momentum, I’ve broken it down to the last six games or so, and I think we’ve done well.
“We’ve managed to pick up points on the road and turned around our record at home.”
