Motherwell fans have hailed Kevin Van Veen as their king as King Charles III's coronation celebrations continue - while Hibs supporters straight up blast the royal event.
Fans in North Lanarkshire sing that he is the best they have ever seen as he soars up the Premiership scoring charts, with the Dutchman targeting 30 goals after making it 24 with a strike against Celtic. Prior to Saturday's clash with Kilmarnock in the first of five post-split fixtures in the bottom six, fans in the John Hunter Stand unveiled a banner in honour of the king.
But it was not the one coronated in a ceremony at Westminster Abby the morning prior to kick-off, but their Dutch hero signed in 2021. It reads 'King Kev, born to reign over us' in homage to the in-form Motherwell forward, who has been tipped with big moves to clubs like Rangers by certain pundits amid his form surge. A Chinese club also lodged an offer for Van Veen.
But he has remained in North Lanarkshire. Stuart Kettlewell's side have lifted themselves away from relegation danger but need a few more points to make it a mathematical impossibility.
Meanwhile at Easter Road in Hibs match with St Mirren, fans have been more blunt in their assessment. A punters banner there simply reads 'f*** the coronation, feed the poor.'
