Logan Dunachie has joined Clyde on a two-year deal as Brian McLean made his first signings as the Bully Wee's new head coach.
The Motherwell academy product spent time on loan at Lowland League East Kilbride last season and League One side Forfar Athletic, but never made a first team appearance for the Steelmen.
Centre-back Dunachie, 19, was one of three new signings announced by the club, as midfielder Stuart Carswell - who started his career at Fir Park - joined on a one-year deal from League Two Dumbarton and fellow midfielder Ross Forbes arrived from Stenhousemuir.
McLean told the Clyde website: “It’s good to get some fresh faces into the club to build the squad. Ross and Stuart will definitely be a boost, especially with their experience in League 1 and 2 which will help the team greatly.”
There have also been contract extension at the club with midfielder Barry Cuddihy, defender Ross Lyon and goalkeeper Neil Parry all signing one-year deals, while defender Peter Grant penned a new two-year contract.
McLean added: "I am pleased to have these players back and to see their commitment to the club.
“After being here last year and working with myself that will give us a good base to build from and help the group going forward.”
Conner Duthie was offered a new deal by the club, but has decided to move on.
Meanwhile, McLean announced he is retiring from playing to focus on his dugout role, having replaced Jim Duffy who has moved upstairs to become the Bully Wee's director of football.
It brings the curtain down on a 22-year career, which started at Rangers and included spells with Motherwell, Falkirk, Ross County, Dundee United and Preston North End, among others.
The 38-year-old said: "It wasn’t really a hard decision to do, I’ve had a decent career lasting 22 years! I’ve learned a lot from myself from a young age and I’ve always had an old head on young shoulders. I’m now ready for this opportunity and that’s why I’ve made the decision to retire so I am fully immersed on the other side of the white line.
“I’ll have extra guidance from Jim, which will be invaluable for me, so we can have that shared discussion and approach for how we want to things going forward.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity, and probably at the right time for myself. I’m delighted to take up the job and delighted for the trust of the club and Jim, who I’ve worked with for a number of years, and I’m looking forward to enhancing that relationship.
“In terms of us going forward as a club, it’s important that we have some continuity but we also need to have transparency so the fans are onside as I know they will be from the start. It’s a journey, not just for the players or staff, everyone needs to be in it together and fighting in the direction we all want to go.”
Clyde are looking for promotion straight back to League One, following last season relegation in the play-offs at the hands of Annan.
And McLean added: “Momentum is everything, it’s important we get the nucleus of the new squad together as soon as we can and get to work from Day 1 which is a week on Saturday. We need to lay the foundation early to get across our identity and what we will stand for.
“We know the backing will be there, it’s up to us as players and coaching staff to try and make sure the performances match the backing every week. The fans recognise that, and it’s up to us as a result driven business to make sure they get the results they deserve.”
