Mother's Day is nearly here and some of us could be leaving gift-buying until the last moment.
Fortunately, there are still plenty of discounts, offers and promotions going around. Many of these are experiences for two - or more - people so you can make this celebration a wonderful bonding experience with your mam as well.
Book a flight to sunnier places
With the cold temperatures and the lashing rain, Dublin hasn't been the best for those of us craving a little sunshine and warmth. Ryanair has pretty sweet deals with trips to beautiful parts of Europe including France, Spain and Italy for less than €20. If you like Asturias, Spain or the south side of France Carcassonne, you might want to check out these deals.

Go for an impromptu spa escape
Going for a surprise spa day with your mam might sound nice but a bit ridiculous in the current cost-of-living crisis where every penny counts. However, there are some pretty good discounts for Mother’s day - some spa packages start from €50.
Go hiking together
Why not just escape the hustle and bustle of Paddy’s Day weekend and go hiking with your mam? Global hiking app AllTrails recently shared a list with the top rated hiking trails in Ireland and some of them are not that far away from Dublin. They have different levels of difficulty so it really depends on how much you wanna challenge yourselves.
Level: Moderate
From Shankill's suburban village to The Scalp, a glacial outflow formed at the end of the last Ice Age. It passes through a variety of woodlands along the way as well as the former Ballycorus Lead Mine, an important industrial heritage site.
Level: Easy
Suitable for the whole family. It begins and ends at a pub and there are numerous parks and lovely waterfalls along the way.
Crone Wood and Maulin Mountain Loop

Lough Ouler and Tonelagee Loop
Level: Hard
This is an old and mystical path, heavily wooded with native plants, and full of beauty.
Dún Laoghaire - Dalkey - Killiney Hill
Level: Moderate
Follow the seashore across South-East Dublin's fashionable suburbs and return by a historic walkway.
Glendalough Spink Trail White Route
Level: Moderate
A trail with a blend of terrains that passes Powerscourt waterfall
Buy her a classy yet affordable gift
Many major retailers – including high-end ones like Arnotts – are rushing to declare their Mother’s Day sale, vouchers or discounts. Marks and Spencer, Nike, Adidas, Lookfantastic, Charlotte Tilbury, Currys, Ted Bakers, are among them. Meanwhile at Lidl, you can find a DKNY watch for €29.99 when it used to be €99.
Buy her a beauty bundle
Beauty bundles are always a safe choice when in doubt. Boots can always get you sorted when looking for cosmetics sets and this year they're offering some well-known and well-liked options as well. Currently, they have really fantastic gift sets such as a Soap & Glory beauty bundle for €20.
If you want something even more affordable, Barnardos have launched their present deals for Mother's Day with top gifts available for as little as €5.
Take her to an Afternoon Tea
If you want to go all out, 5-star hotel Conrad has launched a new fancy Spring Afternoon Tea menu. It features "a delightful selection of savoury bites, sandwiches and sweet treats, accompanied by a range of top-end teas and champagne".
Available at an introductory price of €110 for two including a glass of champagne each, the Afternoon Tea at Conrad is open Friday to Sunday from 12:30pm to 4pm. They have limited bookings for Mother’s Day this Sunday and advise early booking via OpenTable to avoid disappointment.
