This morning, students, staff, and relatives of the victims gathered at Appalachee High School for a makeshift memorial following last week's tragic school shooting. The incident resulted in the loss of two students and two teachers, with nine others sustaining injuries after a teenage gunman opened fire on campus.

New details have emerged regarding the suspect's mother's attempt to warn the school of an 'extreme emergency' just before the attack unfolded. The suspect's family confirmed that the 14-year-old gunman was shot and killed during the incident.

According to reports, the suspect's mother received an alarming text message from her son on the morning of the shooting, prompting her to contact a school counselor. The call lasted approximately 10 minutes, after which she immediately drove 200 miles from Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Winder. Unfortunately, by the time she arrived, the tragic events had already transpired.

Two students and two teachers lost, nine others injured in the shooting.

The community of Winder, known for its close-knit nature, has been left in shock by the senseless violence that occurred at Appalachee High School. The local school system has allowed students to retrieve their belongings from the premises, but the resumption of classes remains uncertain.

The text message sent by the suspect to his mother has raised questions about his understanding of right and wrong, potentially playing a role in future legal proceedings. As the community mourns the loss of the four victims, prayers and remembrances continue at the memorial site.
