Hedge fund manager must pay the mother of his child £8,000 per month in child support after she made a claim that included a £10,500 annual wine budget.
Chris Rokos is worth an estimated £660 million, and prior to the most recent ruling was paying the mother of his child, Veronica Antonio, £12,000 per month.
Bloomberg reports that claims for child support included Uber rides and swimming lessons on top of the £10,500 per year Ms Antonio requested for wine.
The judge reportedly did not approve the request to award the full £10,500 for wine on account of the fact that the child was aged seven and was unlikely to drink it. However they did allow the receipt of a “significant figure for wine”.
The amount Rokos must pay monthly has been reduced by £4,000. Reports say Ms Antionio’s initial budget for Uber rides, for which she was receiving £6,000 per year, and the annual £5,000 she received for swimming lessons has been cut.
Ms Antonio will still receive £33,600 per year for a full time housekeeper.
Judge Holman, who made the ruling, told Bloomberg: "I do not find it very edifying that people in this financial bracket should be taking up a day of court time over a sum which to them, though not to others, is objectively so small.”
