Police say yesterday's fatal house fire in the Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown was a murder-suicide.

It is believed Sally Davis killed her mother, Trish Lambourne, and then set their house alight.

Their bodies were found inside a spare room in the  burning house they had lived in together early yesterday morning.

Their house is owned by YourPlace Housing, which provides accommodation, mainly for people living with a disability.

The blaze was put out within 10 minutes by 22 firefighters.

The value of the damage to the house is estimated at $100,000.

Ms Davis's Twitter profile says she has been her mother's carer for 22 years.

In 2021, she posted pictures of her and her mother on social media wearing shirts stating it was against their religion to have to get vaccinated or wear a mask.

A post-mortem report is expected to be released today.
