THE vast majority of Scotland’s local authorities are set to be impacted by the upcoming bin strikes.
Waste and recycling workers from Unite, GMB and Unison rejected the latest pay offer from Cosla – the body which represents Scotland’s 32 local authorities.
On Wednesday, Cosla agreed to ask the Scottish Government for additional funding – a move which resolved similar disputes in 2022 and 2023.
A total of 25 of Scotland’s 32 local authorities are set to be impacted by the strike action, which could begin in the middle of August.
Not all unions are going on strike in the same areas, meaning local authorities will be impacted to different extents.

- Highland Council: Unite
- Inverclyde Council: Unison, Unite, GMB
- Midlothian Council: Unison, GMB
- North Ayrshire Council: Unite
- North Lanarkshire Council: Unison, Unite
- Orkney Islands Council: GMB
- Perth and Kinross Council: Unite, GMB
- Renfrewshire Council: Unite

The only local authorities not impacted by the strikes are: Argyll and Bute Council; Comhairle nan Eilean Siar; Falkirk Council; Moray Council; Scottish Borders Council; Shetland Islands Council; West Dunbartonshire Council.
