A new interactive map shows the most famous people from any location in the world, including Glasgow.
The notable people map, designed by Topi Tjukanov using data from Morgane Laouenan et al., shows the most well-known people who live or who have lived anywhere across the globe.
The map's website states: "Using data from Morgane Laouenan et al., the map is showing birthplaces of the most "notable people" around the world. Data has been processed to show only one person for each unique geographic location with the highest notability rank."

To use the map, users simply need to move it to where they would like and it shows the most "notable" person from that specific area. The website allows users to further categorise the results into Culture, Discovery and Science, Leadership, and Sports and Games.
Zooming out on the map, the most famous Scots appear to be pioneering economist Adam Smith, iconic Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox, and explorer Alexander Mackenzie. In England, among the most notable people are Winston Churchill, Charles Darwin, and Agatha Christie.
Looking more specifically at Glasgow, the most well-known people from the city include Dire Straits singer Mark Knopfler, Trainspotting actor Robert Carlyle, and football manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Moving to the surrounding areas, other famous Scots from the region include Gerard Butler, Robbie Coltrane, William Wallace, and Gordon Brown.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Donald Trump, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande came out on top in New York, Texas, and Florida respectively.
The developers, led by Morgane Laouénan wrote: "A new strand of literature aims at building the most comprehensive and accurate database of notable individuals. We collect a massive amount of data from various editions of Wikipedia and Wikidata."
