UK tourists are always on the lookout for a beautiful place to visit that boasts stunning architecture and enjoyable walks.
But with social media promoting popular places on a daily basis, it can be hard to find somewhere off the beaten track away from other day-trippers. Condé Nast Traveller has recently crowned a village 'the UK's most beautiful', however, most people visit its neighbouring town instead.
South Pool in Devon has picture-perfect streets and a lovely bubbling stream. But most tourists end up going to its neighbour, popular Salcombe for trips.

The overlooked hidden gem only has 143 residents and homes one of the West Country's best gastro-pubs, Millbrook Inn, renowned for providing fine French-influenced food in traditional English surroundings.
One reviewer said: "This was possibly the best meal I’ve ever had! A very special place." While another wrote: "Best Pub in the world with a wonderful new spirit! My wife and I had a delicious Valentine's dinner, we would HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting this area for the first time! Especially by boat!"
The village also has lots of scenic footpaths to wander down. Condé Nast says: "Savvy canoeists who’ve checked the tide charts arrive by boat and tie up to the pontoon."
For history fans, the village has The Church of St Nicholas and St Cyriac, which was built almost entirely with local slate and mostly originates from the 15th Century. And local rumours predict it could date back to as early as the 1100s.
The news comes after the best beaches in the UK and Europe were shared by TripAdvisor - and three were in the West Country.
Weymouth, Newquay and Bournemouth all made it into the top 25 beaches in Europe, according to the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards 2023. Gorleston-on-Sea in Norfolk was crowned the best in the UK, while Weymouth came second, closely followed by Cornwall's Fistral Beach.
