Mortified mum accidentally moons crowd during parents' race at sports day

A mum was left "humiliated" after accidentally flashing the crowd her bottom at her daughter's sports day while taking part in a run.

Katie Hannaford, 36, was convinced by her eight-year-old to run in the mum's race event on June 15. Hilarious footage captured the mum, from Basildon, Essex, as she lined up in the third lane from the left in her blue dress shortly before the race kicked off.

However, as the other mums took off Katie tripped and flew straight into the floor, faceplanting it. And if that wasn't enough, her skirt flew up over her head, flashing her bum and black thong to all the other parents at the sports day event.

Fortunately, the homeware company owner has overcome her embarrassment and is now seeing the funny side of the whole ordeal. She said: "I'm not sporty at all, but [my daughter] kept begging me. In the end I agreed to the race - I knew I'd come last.

"I just tripped over my own feet - I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I'm so clumsy, I'm always falling over. I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear which is obviously embarrassing but you just have to own it.

"Looking back, it's hilarious - definitely the funniest thing I've ever done in my life!"

Sharing the clip online herself, she wrote: "When the kids got more at sports day than they were expecting! Haha. If you can’t laugh at yourself then what’s life about ay! Sorry kiddo’s and anyone else watching!"

The post, made on Facebook, quickly went viral after pulling in hundreds of comments, with one user saying: "I think this is a 'crack'ing good effort posting this and a great view for the kids."

Another wrote: "Omg Katie more I watch it more I laugh." A third added: "I’m laughing more this morning than I was last night."
