A mortician has described why the case of a man who fell down a manhole is the worst death she has come across.
Caitlin Doughty, the Youtuber behind the Ask A Mortician web series, revealed the incident involved a horrifying twist.
During an 'Ask a medical examiner' question and answer session, Caitlin heard about the case of the chilling death from colleague Dr Judy Melinek, The Sun reports.
Forensic pathologist Caitlin was asked "what's the worst thing you have ever seen?".
She proceeded to tell the story of a man who met his maker after falling down a manhole – and being cooked alive.
She said: "Two buddies were out drinking. One guy thinks the other guy is hitting on his girlfriend so he starts beating him up and throws him into an open manhole.

"There is a broken water main nearby so at the bottom of the manhole, there is a pool of boiling water.
"When emergency services arrived the man was still alive reaching up and screaming for help.
"They couldn't get him out for another three hours. When they finally did they took his temperature and it read 125 degrees but likely only because that's as high as the thermometer goes.
"When Dr Judy did his autopsy he was like a lobster. His organs literally cooked as he had been boiled alive."
The mortician's web series often tackles macabre topics and deals with viewer's questions about death.
She has previously answered questions about the worst way to die – giving her opinion that the ancient Persian torture method of scaphism would be the most painful way to go.
Scaphism, also referred to as "the boats", was reserved for the worst criminals and involved being stripped naked, put between hollowed-out logs with your head and limbs sticking out and being covered in milk and honey to attract insects.
Victims would then be left in a stagnate pond to be slowly eaten, but with return visits made to force feed them milk and honey in order to prolong the agony before eventually succumbing to exposure, dehydration, shock and delirium.
