Manchester music legend Morrissey left concertgoers perplexed when he abruptly waked off stage just nine songs into a show.
Videos shared on social media show the 63-year-old complaining that he was cold, earlier on in his set at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, on Saturday night (November 12). After performing The Smiths classic 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before', he said: "As I think you know, it's extremely cold.
Addressing the crowd, Morrissey added: Can you tell? I can. However, we will steam on, where to? Who knows," before launching into 'Billy Budd', an album track from his 1994 solo album 'Vauxhall and I'.
REVIEW : One for the purists as M orrissey returns for his first Manchester gig in six years
Throughout the set Morrissey kept pulling his jacket together, before eventually leaving the stage after ninth song 'Girlfriend in a Coma' - just over 30 minutes into the set. His seemingly confused band stayed on stage for a few minutes before following him.
One member of Morrissey's band then returned moments later to inform those in attendance at the 5,900-capacity outdoor venue that the show had ended. "Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue," the man announced to a chorus of boos, "very sorry. We’ll see you next time".
After the show, Morrissey's official Instagram account shared a photo with the caption: "Thank you for coming out last night, LA. We love you and are grateful for your support. Please stand by for further announcements coming shortly."
A statement on the Greek Theatre website states: "The Morrissey concert has been postponed to a TBD date. Please continue to monitor our website for further information."
A number of fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with some speculating that Morrissey had been too cold to continue. In a tweet that has since been retweeted more than 350 times, @copyrightlately wrote: "So, #Morrissey just walked off the stage at @Greek_Theatre after 30 min. Apparently he was too cold."
Several people also made reference to the temperature being in 'the 50s' (Fahrenheit). It was around 12C at the time of the gig, according to website timeanddate.com.
Manchester Evening News has approached Morrissey's representatives for comment.
