Supermarket giant Morrisons has cut the prices on 150 of its most popular products to help shoppers stretch their cash and make money go further. It comes as the cost of living crisis is seeing many families struggle to make ends meet when it comes to the food shop and rising energy prices.
Customers will be able to save money on cupboard staples, meat, freezer favourites and everyday essentials as part of the initiative that will make the weekly shop more affordable.
Chopped tomatoes, baked beans, bread, toilet roll, chicken breasts and fish fingers are among the items that have been reduced, saving shoppers 14 per cent on average, the Mirror reports.

Cereal, chips and pizza are also included in the new price initiative, with cuts even made to the stores cheapest Savers and Wonky ranges. However, it’s still worth shopping around and comparing prices to make sure you’re getting the best deal for your household and budget.
For example, Morrisons has cut the price of 1kg of carrots from 55p to 45p - but you can currently get the same size bag of carrots for 29p from Aldi.
Meanwhile, an 800g loaf of white bread has been reduced from 85p to 79p at Morrisons - but Aldi sells an 800g loaf for 69p. You can compare prices by using websites such as Trolley.co.uk.
Morrisons says has invested over £100 million per year to cut these prices, with the lower prices covering nearly six per cent of its total volume sales.
The supermarket has also added a dedicated ‘More Ways to Save’ section to its website, so customers can see the latest offers available across big brands.
David Potts, Chief Executive, Morrisons said: “The cost of living crisis continues to place an enormous financial burden on our customers and we want to play our part in helping them when it comes to the cost of grocery shopping.
“These price cuts are on the products they buy day in and day out and will have a noticeable impact on their budgets and demonstrate our commitment to offering the best possible value.”
