Morrisons signs exclusive delivery deal with Gopuff - and promises to deliver food within 30 minutes

Supermarket chain Morrisons has signed a new delivery deal that allows customers to receive food and groceries within 30 minutes or less. The 'multi-year' partnership has been signed with delivery firm Gopuff and customers can order Morrisons food from its site today.

Morrisons already offers a delivery service through Amazon but the new deal will provide customers with more delivery options. Gopuff will now sell Morrisons' fresh food, own-brand and branded products from its own website.

Under the partnership, Morrisons will control the manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing while Gopuff will control the delivery supply chain. Gopuff currently delivers to more than 20 cities in the UK.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, said: “Gopuff is an acknowledged leader and innovator in rapid delivery and this partnership will enable us to deliver a very strong range of Morrisons fresh food and customer favourites to front doors across the UK in a matter of minutes.”

Yakir Gola, co-founder and co-CEO of Gopuff, said: “Morrisons’ product offering, sustained focus on supporting local producers and suppliers, as well as their relentless commitment to the customer, made this an ideal partnership for Gopuff. As we continue to expand Gopuff’s presence and product offering across the UK, we’re proud to partner with one of the largest and most beloved brands in the market. Morrisons can now meet their loyal customers where they are, and we look forward to bringing local Gopuff customers access to more of the products they love.”

Gopuff was founded by Mr Gola and co-CEO Rafael Ilishayev in 2013. Its platform is available online at www.gopuff.com or via its app which is available on iOS and Android.

Morrisons is headquartered in Bradford and was founded in 1899. It now has 497 stores across the country and serves millions of customers every week.
