An embarrassed nan "felt like a criminal" when she had to leave all her shopping at the till in Morrisons after forgetting her purse.
Jan Oldfield stopped at the Morrisons in Ormskirk on the way to see her grandson, on Saturday, who had been taken to hospital the night before after having a seizure. Jan's grandson Elijah has a rare life-limiting neurological condition and is currently being treated at Ormskirk hospital.
After picking up some lunch for her daughter she approached the checkout and realised that she had left her purse at home. Embarrassed she then left the store and headed toward her car.

Jan who is 61 said: "I felt like a criminal because I have never done that before and I felt really embarrassed. So I had to leave the basket and the cashier asked me if I was close to home and did I have time to get my purse.
"I explained that I could not go home as I was on the way to the hospital to see my grandson. I think the lady in the queue behind me must have heard that. After I left I got a tap on the should from her and she said 'come back in and let me pay for your shopping'."
Jan initially declined the offer but the lady insisted and they went back into the store. Speaking to the ECHO Jan said: "She overheard me talking about my grandson and said she had grandchildren herself and paying was the least that she could do.
"I asked for her bank details but she would not let me and insisted she would pay. She asked me about my grandson and I ended up crying in the middle of the shop but it was such a lovely thing for the lady to do I was just so grateful to her."
Jan's daughter Laura put numerous posts on Facebook to try and find the kind stranger but hasn't found her yet. They hope that one day they can meet the woman and repay her.
Jan who is from Ormskirk said: "For somebody to make that kind of gesture really touched me. If I saw her again I would give her a great big hug and reiterate how grateful I am. I would see if she would let me pay for the shopping but I know she wouldn't."
