Morrisons issues urgent recall for popular fruit snacks as they may cause illness

Supermarket chain Morrisons has issued an urgent recall for two popular ready-to-eat packets of fruit over the possibility of illness if they are consumed.

The UK Grocer is recalling their Morrisons Mango and Morrisons Mango Fingers over fears that they possibly contain traces of salmonella.

Morrisons has said the move is a 'precautionary measure' after the alert was issued to The Food Standards Agency (FSA) website.

The products being recalled are the Morrisons Mango (240G) with a best before date of August 23, 2022 and the Morrisons Mango Fingers (210G) with a best before date of August 22, 2022.

The FSA alert has found that both products possibly contain traces of salmonella contamination. Salmonella is a bacterial disease that can cause fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

The FSA issued the alert (FSA)

Point of sale notices explaining why the products have been recalled and what customers should do next have been issued to Morrisons stores.

Customers have been urged not to eat the products over the possible contamination and to return the products to the stores they were purchased in immediately.

Customers will be issued with a full refund with, or without, a receipt.

Morrisons said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."

It comes after multiple supermarkets have had to issue similar recalls for certain items due to incorrect labelling and potential contamination.

Asda, Tesco and Lidl are among some of the UK's biggest supermarkets to have issued recalls for items such as tinned fish and ready meals due to health and safety fears.
