Morrisons has banned all plastic packaging from its Christmas gift wrap and accessories range.
The supermarket had already removed glitter from crackers and cards in previous years - and said its latest move will allow customers to have "a more sustainable Christmas".
The decision will remove more than 3.1 tonnes of plastic shrink wrap from its wrapping paper alone, Morrisons said.
The ban affects all festive wrapping paper and gifting accessories, such as gift tags and bags - which will be made of recyclable paper instead.
Wrapping paper, which cost £2 in 2021, will be sold for just 99p this year and gift bags have also been reduced.
Jodie Mackrill, Buying Manager for Christmas and Events at Morrisons, said: "We are always looking to find ways to reduce and remove plastic packaging across all of the products we sell. It's what our customers tell us they want too.
"During the Christmas period, 269,423 miles of wrapping paper are used every year, contributing to plastic ending up in landfill.
"Our new entirely plastic-free Christmas wrap and gift range means customers can have a more sustainable Christmas and we hope that cutting costs on gift bags and wrapping paper will help them in that."
The new range supports Morrisons' target to reduce plastic packaging by 50% and to make all own-brand plastic packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.
The announcement comes as Morrisons revealed its Christmas advert for 2022, bringing back Farmer Christmas to celebrate all things food.
The 60-second clip showcases "the other hero of Christmas" for the second year running, as Morrisons shines a light on the work of British farmers.
The advert starts with Farmer Christmas travelling across snowy fields on a lit-up tractor to his workshop, where Morrisons "elves" are hard at work.
"It's me, Farmer Christmas," he says. "Grower, provider and lover of fantastic festive food."
After arriving at his workshop, Farmer Christmas introduces a Morrisons baker creating puff pastry mince pies in “magic ovens”.
A fishmonger can also be been showing off smoked Scottish salmon, while a butcher passes Farmer Christmas a gammon joint.
Viewers then follow Farmer Christmas as he travels on his tractor to deliver a festive feast to a family, before cheekily inviting himself to sit down and join them.
The advert finishes with Farmer Christmas explaining that Morrisons is the “only supermarket to be officially approved by me”.
