Morrisons announces 5p off every litre of fuel to store customers who spend £40

Petrol prices rocketed recently with some fuel stations locally close to the £2.00 a litre mark. Prices have now edged away from that eye-watering figure but still sit at a hefty price to fill up your tank. So news of a price cut - albeit a temporary one - announced by supermarket giant Morrisons has been welcomed.

Morrisons is cutting the cost of fuel for its store customers by offering 5p off every litre at the fuel pumps. The offer runs from Thursday, September 29, until Sunday, October 9.

To be eligible, you'll need to spend £40 on your shop in store, then you'll receive a coupon giving a discount of 5p on every litre of fuel purchased. Talking about the deal, Rachel Eyre, chief customer and marketing officer at Morrisons, said: "Fuel prices are one of the biggest expenses people across the UK are facing as the cost of living increases. We want to help our customers save money wherever we can and hope this offer can help make budgets go a little further.”

The cheapest petrol in Nottinghamshire at the time of writing, according website petrolprices.com, is £159.9p for a litre of unleaded petrol which is currently the forecourt price at Tesco in Beeston. The filling station has diesel at £179.9p. Esso in Clifton has forecourt prices which match.

Morrisons' coupon is redeemable at all of the chain's petrol stations (with the exception of franchised Morrisons Daily petrol stations) and customers have until Sunday, October 16, to spend it. Morrisons has 339 filling stations across the UK.

The required £40 customer spend excludes certain items: Fuel, Tobacco, Lottery products, Morrisons Café, Gift Vouchers & Cards, Infant/Formula Milk, Cash Back, Dry Cleaning, Fireworks, Online Games and Instant Tickets, Photo Printing, Saver Stamps, Postage Stamps, ‘Top-Up’ Mobile Phone Cards, Delivery Charges/Pass, Garden Centre & Pharmacy (where applicable).
