Morrisons and Lidl warning as products pulled from shelves

Morrisons and Lidl are asking customers to check their kitchen cupboards again after safety warnings were issued about food and drink from supermarkets.

Stores have recalled a number of items in recent weeks, with customers urged not to eat them but instead return them to the store for a full refund. You do not need to have your receipt to get your money back.

When a product is recalled, for any reason, the Food Safety Agency (FSA) shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, as well as detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

Lidl

Lidl GB is extending the recall of Smoked Trout to include Smoked Salmon products, produced by St James Smokehouse because these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Ella's Kitchen is recalling Banana Multigrain Baby Rice because it contains oats, (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten.

The inclusion of oats also makes this product thicker in texture than it should be for a four-month+ product.

This allergy alert has been extended to include the additional best before date of 05 October 2023.
