Action both off and on the pitch will be keeping visitors entertained at Morpeth Rugby Club in Northumberland this weekend as it hosts a two-day beer festival.
The 8th Morpeth Beer Festival will be playing out at its club grounds in Mitford Road this Friday and Saturday and helping to get the party started will be swing star Jason Isaacs. The singer and sax player - billed as the North East's king of swing - will take to the stage from 8.45pm to 11pm at Friday's opener of the event which will feature plenty booze, food and rugby matches too.
A Northumberland RU Vet Fest Tournament will first open the festival at 6pm and also on the day's menu will be 30 beers and ciders; a Marlish Mixer Bar with Pimms, wine, fizz and gin and food outlets. Live music and sport will top the bill at the Saturday session too when a 2pm rugby game will start the show, with the Morpeth Marauders taking on Feltham.

First up on Saturday's music programme will be the Teddy King Big Band followed by Lou Coel and local musicians. Then rock band Siren will wrap up the entertainment that evening.
A weekend pass for the festival costs £12, including a glass, two beer tokens and a programme - and the glass just needs to be taken along on the second day, as proof of purchase, to gain admission. Organisers suggest those interested in going should buy tickets in advance: see the club Facebook page or wine, beer and spirits shop Grape & Grain in the town.
