Arguably the dark horses of the teams who remain, the Atlas Lions have impressed thus far and topping a group also containing Croatia and Belgium is certainly worthy of applause.
Still, the Spanish will provide a different kind of challenge. Brilliant at their best, Luis Enrique’s side looked like early contenders when beating Costa Rica 7-0 but it would be fair to say the excitement around them has dipped somewhat since.
