Morgan Whittaker to Rangers transfer back ON as Michael Beale prepares to launch fresh bid for Swansea City star

Rangers boss Michael Beale will make a fresh move to land Morgan Whittaker this summer.

The Ibrox side failed with several bids for the Swansea City winger in the January window. The 22-year-old told the Swans he wanted to make the move at the turn of the year but the Welsh club were adamant he wasn’t for sale.

Whittaker, however, has failed to get a sustained run in the Welsh side’s starting XI. Most of his action has come off the bench and it has left the player a frustrated figure again. Beale has continued to have Whittaker watched closely and is aware the player is still keen on a move to Ibrox. Rangers made an offer of around £1.8million last time around. There are several other English clubs who are interested in the wide man, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Plymouth Argyle earlier in the season.

Beale is already well on his way with his summer recruitment drive in full-swing. Record Sport revealed this week Queens Park Rangers winger Chris Willock is a player the Rangers boss is keen to work with again. He is out-of-contract in the summer although the R’s have the option on their side to extend that deal.

Manchester United back-up Jack Butland is among the options that are being considered for a new shotstopper. Rangers goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart is a big fan of the former England squad player, while Beale has also been linked with a move for Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell.

Beale is also looking to offload and will free up budget by moving some of his existing squad. With a goalkeeper amongst the priorities Jon McLaughlin is likely to be made available this summer, while Allan McGregor is also out of contract. A large chunk would also be freed up as Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are both out of contract.

Meanwhile, Rangers have beaten off English Premier League moves to sign Jack Wyllie (CORRECT) and Calum Adamson on professional contracts. The pair will sign two year professional contracts from this summer.

Arsenal and Tottenham both made approaches to land Wyllie, while Crystal Palace and Newcastle United wanted midfielder Adamson. Rangers academy chief Craig Mulholland was a major catalyst in both boys remaining at Rangers.

The recent success the club has had with their graduates like Nathan Patterson also shows there is a pathway for emerging talent. That has also been shown by Leon King’s first-team exposure this season, along with the likes of Alex Lowry and Adam Devine.
