In-demand Morgan Whittaker has already offered Rangers a hint at what they must do to bring hm to Ibrox after he revealed 2 key factors behind his frustrations.
Whittaker was rapidly sidelined by Russell Martin after being recalled from his loan spell at Plymouth in January despite the English Championship side slamming the door shut on a move to Rangers in the winter window. The 22-year-old impressed in the first half of the campaign on loan in League One, before he was recalled by the Swans in January as they looked to give the forward a second chance in the first-team.
His form in the English third tier attracted the eyes of Rangers with the club launching a series of bids to tempt the club into a sale, but were knocked back. But since then he has struggled to make a serious impact on the Swansea side, mainly being limited to appearances off the bench and has netted just one goal.
Record Sport understands Rangers are set to revive their interest in the summer window, and the club have already received a clue on what they must do land the player. He admits that it "wasn't easy" to move his family back to Wales suddenly after his loan spell was suddenly cut short - while hinting at frustrations over not being a "key player" on his return with just one first-team start.
Speaking to the club programme before the clash with Huddersfield, he said: “I enjoyed my time at Plymouth, I feel like it was a good loan spell for me. I was a key part of the team and doing well there, and I took a lot of confidence from that. It was not easy to come back in January because the team were challenging for promotion and things were going well. There’s also a human side to it because your life off the field changes so much very quickly.
“You move house, it has an impact on family life, and it is something that takes time to adjust to and it’s probably a part of it that people do not see. But I have really been welcomed back by the coaching staff and all the lads in the squad, and I have had the opportunity to play, although of course you always want to play more.
“If someone had told me at the start of the season that my loan spell would go well and I would come back to Swansea to be a big part of the squad and to play, then I would have taken that every day of the week. So, on the whole, I think it has been positive season for me."
An early summer move could be key to sealing the deal to allow the 22-year-old to settle in Glasgow. Game time will also be key to ramp up his confidence should Michael Beale get the deal over the line.
