Morgan Whittaker and the Rangers transfer collapse aftermath as Swansea insider admits January 'real tough time'

Morgan Whittaker has all the tools to become a Championship regular at Swansea City according to his skipper- after he endured a mentally testing January window that saw a Rangers move collapse.

The attacker impressed on loan at Plymouth Argyle in the first half of the season and was recalled to the English second tier by former Ibrox defender Russell Martin. Now the Swans boss has confirmed that bids had been received from Rangers for their promising forward but he eventually didn't participate in January matches with his long-term future uncertain.

In the end it wasn't a move to Michael Beale's men that came to fruition and Whittaker is now back performing with Swansea. Captain Matt Grimes is in no doubt of the 22-year-old's attacker ability and admits he's had a chat with him after the mentally testing Rangers' transfer dilemma. He said: "He was fantastic at Plymouth, I watched him a few times. He’s been fantastic and he’s come back eager and hungry to succeed.

"It was a real tough time for him. I’ve said to him that if he does what he did at Plymouth here then his name is being spoken about as a Championship proven player."
