Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract that will keep him in the Midlands until 2030.
Rogers, 22, moved to Villa Park from Middlesbrough in January. In a deal worth £8 million plus an additional £7 million in add-ons, Rogers looks to have already proved himself a bargain signing.
He helped Aston Villa to a top-four finish in the second half of last season, and has since become a key member of Unai Emery’s squad.
In 15 appearances this season, he has netted three goals. Scoring against Tottenham, Ipswich Town and Fulham, Rogers also started each of Villa’s Champions League wins against Bayern Munich, Young Boys and Bologna.
Such is his recent form that Rogers earned a call-up to the senior England squad. He made his debut off the bench on Thursday, as England beat Greece 3-0 in the Nations League.
He then featured again at the weekend in England’s 5-0 demolition of the Republic of Ireland at Wembley.
Morgan Rogers’ New Contract Reflects His Meteoric Rise
And having made his Three Lions debut, Rogers has committed his future to the club that has helped his stock skyrocket in 2024.
His new, six-year contract will see Rogers remain at Villa Park until 2030.
Speaking to the press at last week’s England media day, he spoke of how Unai Emery’s faith in him has helped speed up his development.
Rogers said: “I think any player would say that trust from a manager is the most important thing.
“And he gave me that from minute one, he threw me in the deep end when people were injured last season and gave me a chance to shine and develop and to be in the first team now.
“He’s always demanding with me to get to that level and to maintain the level. And it’s just about when you have that person behind you, you’re on the pitch and you know that he’s there for you.
“He’s always going to push you. He’s always demanding more from you. He gives you that extra motivation, that extra something from within, just to push yourself and just to impress.”
