Morelos and Dembele cross transfer paths as Rangers striker and Celtic hero 'earmarked' by Fenerbahce

Alfredo Morelos is on a three-striker January shortlist for Fenerbahce, according to reports in Turkey. But it's claimed top of their agenda is former Celtic hitman Moussa Dembele - with the one-time Glasgow rivals joining Luis Muriel in the running.

The Rangers striker is out of contract at the end of the season and with concerns over his fitness and commitment costing him his spot as automatic starting striker, the chances of him penning a lucrative new deal look slimmer by the week. The Ibrox side may cash in for whatever they can in January to avoid losing him for free in the summer, but finding a club willing to pay for him given his recent struggles is easier said than done.

Step forward Fenerbahce who Fanatik say are prepared to step up their interest in him. It's reported that Morelos' representatives made contact with the Super Lig side after he was bombed out of the squad for the Champions League qualifier against PSV, while they also had "interviews" with him back in the summer.

Key to their renewed interest is his contract situation - which Fanatik say is a running theme throughout each of their three targets. As well as Morelos and former Celtic hitman Moussa Dembele, it's claimed Atalanta's Luis Muriel is under consideration, and he's seen as second choice to Dembele. Morelos, it's claimed, will be approached if neither of those deals can be pulled off.

They report that Fenerbahce's first choice is to sign a striker in January, but they will consider a pre-contract approach to land one of them in the summer if necessary. It remains to be seen if Dembele, still only 26, would be open to a move to the Turkish Super Lig - given he hammered in 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season and would still be considered a viable option by many big clubs in the 'big five' leagues.

It's a similar situation for Muriel, though at 31 he is closer to the natural point of winding down his career with a megabucks move to Turkey. Morelos, meanwhile, looks like the middle ground between those two - likely to have fewer options than Dembele though at 26, still far from over the hill.
