Morecambe boss Stephen Robinson has say on Bolton Wanderers draw and temporary postponement

Morecambe boss Stephen Robinson felt his side ought to have won their clash against Bolton Wanderers but will leave the circumstances the surrounded the draw being temporarily being suspended to be investigated by relevant authorities.

The League One clash at the Mazuma Stadium was suspended for 10 minutes by referee Ross Joyce following an alleged racist comment directed towards the Wanderers bench from the crowd and the players were called off the pitch as full-time approached.

Cole Stockton had previously put the hosts ahead after having his penalty saved by James Trafford as Bolton captain Santos was shown a straight red card for an alleged handball in the box.

But Wanderers rallied and during 10 extra minutes of play, substitute Amadou Bakayoko struck to earn Bolton a share of the spoils.

Speaking to the club's YouTube channel after the 1-1 result, Robinson would not be drawn too much on the circumstances surrounding the temporary postponement and will let the relevant authorities deal with it.

Lancashire police have launched an investigation into the alleged racist abuse, while Wandererers have condemned the off the pitch issues experienced at the Mazuma Stadium, with the Shrimps vowing to work with relevant authorities to help investigate matters.

On the pitch, Robinson felt his side ought to have claimed three points from the encounter and that Wanderers punished the Shrimps.

He said: "There's lots of accusations going about and I think the relevant authorities are going to deal with that. It's obviously interrupted the game completely with the run of the game and the way we were going, we were completely dominating so it's disappointing.

"I'll let the relevant authorities deal with that and go from there.

"We should won. We were the better team with 11 men, we were the better team with 10 men. I thought we totally dominated, created all the chances, passed the ball in ridiculous conditions so I cut a very frustrated figure that we have not won the game.

"We miss a penalty, which we can't be too critical of Cole for that as he's carried us most of the season. We deserved to win the game but we didn't see it out with game management. We should have tried to keep the ball instead of trying to score a second and we didn't and got punished.

"We were playing all the football, we were creating all the chances, we pressed them high up the pitch. I thought we totally dominated a side that's won four in a row and not conceded a goal in them games, so maybe it shows that I'm absolutely gutted that we haven't won the game and how far we've come in the last four or five weeks.

"You get punished at this level for bad decisions and they punished us."
