More vacancies at CCHQ as Conservative Party CEO resigns

THE CEO of the Conservative Party has resigned after working for the party for more than 30 years.

Darren Mott OBE has spent the majority of his career campaigning for the Tories, including a spell as a constituency agent for former chancellor Kenneth Clarke.

He was made director of campaigning in the wake of the 2015 election and eventually became chief executive in 2019.

It means there are now several big vacancies at Conservative Party headquarters, with political director Ross Kempsell and party treasurer Malik Karim also leaving their roles in recent weeks.

No reason has been given as to why Mott has left the role although his departure was jointly agreed to by both the party chairman Nadhim Zahawi and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
