One man has been arrested after a cannabis farm was uncovered.
Merseyside Police confirmed officers had discovered a cannabis farm at around 9.45am today (Thursday, January 5). Operation Pelican officers attended a property on Prescot Road in Melling and after gaining entry found more than 200 cannabis plants.
Police later confirmed that 312 plants were recovered. As a result of the discovery, a 27-year-old man from Melling was arrested and is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

Merseyside Police said: "Operation Pelican Officers have this morning arrested a 27-year-old in Melling for production of cannabis. Officers attended an address on Prescott Road and gained entry, upon entering they located over 200 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.

"The male was arrested and is currently in custody awaiting questioning."
Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:
- Strange smells and sounds
- Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
- Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
- Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
- Heat from an adjoining property
- Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
