Just 70% of GP appointments across Nottinghamshire were face-to-face last month, new data released by the NHS has revealed. The statistics have been released in an attempt to improve transparency so that patients can compare their GP practice to others.
The data also showed that fewer than half of the appointments were given the same day. A total of 43.8% of people requesting appointments were given one on the same day in Nottinghamshire.
Across the country as a whole, just 69.9% of all appointments were face-to-face in February. A total of 44% of appointments were the same day across England.

The figures show there 574,000 appointments across NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire GP practices in February. Of those, 405,000 were face-to-face, with 139,000 carried out over the telephone.
Nottinghamshire's telephone figure is slightly lower than the national average of 26.6% of appointments. Across England, seven million of 27 million appointments - more than a quarter - were done over the telephone.
Out of the 574,000 appointments in February in Nottinghamshire, 273,000 - 47.5% - were carried out by GPs with 49.1% done by other practice staff. These figures were in line with the national average.
