SEVERAL flood alerts remain in place across Scotland as well as a Met Office warning for snow and ice.
The forecaster has warned to expect continued travel disruption on January 1 after Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh had to be cancelled due to the weather conditions.
As it stands, flood warnings, which are considered more severe than flood alerts, are in place in the following areas:
- Callander
- Callander to Stirling
- Moy Bridge
- Strathglass
- Ness-side
- Kingussie to Kincraig
- Kincraig to Inverdruie
- Aviemore/Dalfaber to Grantown
- Boat O’Brig to Spey Viaduct
- Spey Viaduct to Spey Bay
- Aviemore/Dalfaber
- Eyemouth Coastal
- Upper Tay
- Ballinluig to Logierait
- Kenmore
Meanwhile, flood alerts remain in place across a range of areas in Scotland. These include:
- Caithness and Sutherland
- Central
- Easter Ross and Great Glen
- Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside
- Skye and Lochaber
- Tayside
The yellow warning for snow covers most of the north of Scotland, including Inverness and stretches up to Wick.
It is in place from until 9am on January 2 with the Met Office saying “rain turning to snow is likely to lead to some travel disruption.
The forecaster warned of some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths and of potential injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
