Mayhem has erupted during a bingo game when 101 confused players all won at the same time.
The baffling incident which should have led to the winners getting the top prize of of BRL 1,000 (£155), happened in the Brazilian coastal town of Iparana on July 2.
After inspection the cause of it all was due to a printing error on the cards.
According to local reports, the winners ended up sharing the prize money and pocketed just BRL 10 (£1.55) each after organisers agreed to round up the value from BRL 9.90 (£1.50).
One winner, Osmar Saldanha, said: “It was mayhem. It was the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this.
“I have never won at bingo and when I eventually win, I have to share the prize with 100 other people.”
Osmar explained that he bought three bingo cards for BRL 20 (£3.10) for a chance of winning BRL 2,000 (£310) in cash prizes, including BRL 1,000 (£155) for a full card.
He added: “It came to BRL 9.90 per person, but the organisers rounded it up to BRL 10.”
Mayhem erupted on the town square when the final number 49 was called out and 101 people all shouted ‘bingo’.
The organiser of the draw, Mauricio Facanha, said the confusion was caused by a printing error on the cards.
He explained: “I was baffled trying to understand it, but when I stopped to analyse it, I saw all the cards had the number 49.
“It was a printing error that shouldn’t have happened. For me, it was very surprising. Everyone was so excited to have won, they started screaming.”
