More testing required, but Packers hopeful QB Jordan Love avoided long-term injury

More testing is required come Monday, but the Green Bay Packers are currently hopeful that quarterback Jordan Love avoided a long-term injury to his groin on Sunday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Love suffered the injury early on during Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played through the injury for the better part of two quarters but eventually exited the game early in the third quarter and didn’t return. His mobility was compromised, and coach Matt LaFleur said the decision to make the switch to Malik Willis arrived when Love no longer believed he could protect himself. He left the game after getting bumped while back-pedaling following a throw on the Packers’ first series of the third quarter.

Per Pelissero, Love’s status for next week’s visit from the Detroit Lions is “TBD,” or to be determined.

The Packers will practice for the first time next week on Wednesday. More information on Love’s practice schedule for the week could be known Monday when LaFleur addresses the media, but the Packers previously played their cards close to the vest with Love’s knee injury in September.

Willis took over for Love and led the Packers on a game-winning drive, with his 51-yard completion to Jayden Reed setting up a 24-yard field goal from Brandon McManus as time expired.

Love, who missed two games with a sprained MCL earlier this season, finished 14 of 22 passing for 196 yards and an interception against the Jaguars. He is still wearing a brace on his left knee to protect the ligament.

The Packers won both previous starts from Willis — against the Colts and Titans in back-to-back weeks.
