More plans put forward for massive 3,000-home Nottinghamshire development

More plans have been put forward as a massive 3,000-home Nottinghamshire development progresses. Construction is ramping up at the massive Fairham site, which is near Gotham and Clifton, with infrastructure being readied to support the 3,000 homes which will be built.

The new neighbourhood will have one million square feet of employment space, a primary school, community and sports facilities, and a neighbourhood centre when complete. It will also have provision of a safeguarded route to allow for the possible future extension of the tram through the site, and gypsy and traveller pitches.

A series of plans have recently been submitted as the site moves forward. A new employment unit, which would be occupied by packaging company Macfarlane Group, has been proposed for one of the employment plots on the development.

The scheme, brought forward by developer Clowes, is said to complement the area and the allocated land uses for this part of the site. It aims to deliver a business unit which will provide a number of jobs on an allocated employment part of the site and follow the same principle of the other units on the site.

Another application has detailed the new sports pavilion facility planned next to the community pitches of the Fairham site. The single storey building would provide changing and WC facilities adjacent to the community sports pitches.

The building would comprise four changing rooms, each with four shower cubicles and two WCs plus changing benching around the perimeter of the room. There would also be two referee changing and WC rooms, plus a visitor WC accessed from the pitch side of the building and a kitchen facility accessed off the main entrance lobby.

The submitted plan shows an area next to the building has been identified for an extension of the facility if needed in the future. Two further applications have also been made regarding the highways infrastructure and footway serving the site.

All of these applications are pending consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council. At the start of this year developer Clowes said: "We're building the Fairham identity at the moment, so there are welcome signs on the way in and out. We've got the hoardings up to promote the three elements of the scheme, the neighbourhood centre, commercial, and the residential.

"Redrow and Countryside have put their marketing boards up, and are both in the final stage of planning. That is coming and we're expecting them to be on site as soon as the planning is done."
