Social media and analysts from all over the NFL coverage spectrum have started to offer their opinions on the Vikings’ situation. People are offering their support to both Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy, and on Thursday, another domino fell as an analyst offered their support to the Vikings continuing a run with the veteran option.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote this week that the play of Sam Darnold has “complicated matters.” He also notes that giving Darnold one more year with the team would also allow for McCarthy to continue his development behind him. Breer notes that the “program” to develop McCarthy is a good one, they just have to trust themselves.
We are still three months away from knowing what the final decision will be but one thing remains clear. The further this team goes in the playoffs, the harder this decision may become for the Vikings.
It is going to make for a long offseason for the franchise and it’s fans.
