Mookie Betts has earned many accolades and compiled a great deal of iconic moments during his MLB career.
On Tuesday, the two-time World Series champion added to his collection of cool memories when a Dodgers fan named his daughter after him. The backstory is epic.
Giuseppe Mancuso attended the Dodgers’ game against the Athletics on Aug. 2 at Dodger Stadium. While sitting in the front row, Mancuso told Betts that he would name his daughter after the seven-time MLB All-Star if he hit a home run during the contest.
Not surprisingly, Betts didn’t believe Mancuso was serious.
Nevertheless, during the second inning, the 30-year-old blasted a 436-foot dinger, notching his longest homer as a member of the Dodgers.
Mancuso’s daughter was born five days later on Aug. 7. Three days after that, Mancuso tweeted a picture of his daughter’s birth certificate with her full name listed as Francesca Mookie Mancuso.
Betts called it “one of the coolest moments” of his career.

Although Betts initially told Mancuso that his wife “wouldn’t like” his daughter having Mookie as her middle name, it appears that the Mancusos not only have a healthy baby girl but also a forever connection with the Dodgers star.
