Montreal police open homicide investigation after man shot inside garage

Montreal police say a man is dead after a shooting Wednesday night in the city's southwest.

Police said today no arrests have been made, after the victim was shot at least once around 9 p.m. inside a garage in the LaSalle borough.

A spokesperson says several 911 calls were made for shots heard in the neighbourhood.

The victim, a 46-year-old man, was transported to hospital, and authorities announced his death earlier today.

Police say the victim was known to police but circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear.

It is the second homicide of the year on Montreal police territory.
