MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes signed Canadian receiver Hergy Mayala to a one-year contract Tuesday.
The six-foot-one, 208-pound Montreal native spent his first two CFL seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. Mayala, 26 had 67 catches for 846 yards and five touchdowns in 29 career games.
Montreal also signed defensive backs Mike Jones and Tyrice Beverette, linebacker Frederic Chagnon and defensive linemen Avery Ellis and Michael Wakefield.
Jones spent the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He had 46 tackles two interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2021.
The six-foot, 203-pound Beverette spent the last two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, registering 16 tackles, 27 special-teams tackles and a sack in 22 career games.
The six-foot-two, 250-pound Ellis had 129 tackles, 18 sacks and forced two fumbles over four seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks.
Chagnon, a Montreal native, appeared in 14 games last season with Ottawa, recording one tackle and six special-teams tackles. The six-foot-fourm 233-pound Chagnon also scored his first career TD on a blocked punt during a game against Toronto.
The six-foot-three- 268-pound Wakefield had 23 tackles and four sacks in 12 games with Montreal last season.
