The Monster Hunter Wilds roadmap includes Mizutsune, a gathering hub, and the return of the secret story boss

Monster Hunter Wilds hasn't been out in the world for long, but that hasn't stopped Capcom from already giving us a tease of what we can expect from patches, paid DLC and major free updates in the months after launch. The Monster Hunter Wilds roadmap is taking shape, and we know for certain that there are two free updates coming: One in early April, and one in the summer.

We can likely expect a more in-depth view into the spring update once everyone has mastered the High Rank grind and is impatiently waiting for more giant beasts to battle.

We now know everything that's coming in the spring 2025 update, happening next week, along with a small teaser on what's to come in summer 2025.

Title Update 1 is set to release its first batch of new content on April 3, before trickling in additional seasonal events and monsters throughout the month. Here's what you can expect from now through until the end of May:

  • Mizutsune
  • Zoh Shia
  • Grand Hub
  • Arena Quests
  • Seasonal Event
  • Arch-tempered monsters
  • Unknown Capcom collaboration

As we first saw in February's State of Play, Mizutsune will be the first monster we get to face after Great Swording our way through High Rank. The serpentine leviathan debuted back in 2015 in Monster Hunter: Generations, being sadly absent from World before making a grand comeback in 2021's Monster Hunter Wilds.

Mizutsune will be available from HR21.

We'll also be able to get our hands on Zoh Shia once more, the foe encountered at the end of Wilds' Low Rank story. So far it's a fight contained to that one encounter, but Title Update 1 will add Zoh Shia as a quest from HR50. That also means we're finally getting Zoh Shia weapons, hunter armour, and palico armour too.

On top of that, we're getting the gathering hub teased at the end of February, and Wounded Hollow is being put to more use by introducing Arena Quests complete with player leaderboards.

April 22 introduces the seasonal event Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, a spring-filled sakura-themed event which fills the Grand Hub with cherry blossoms.

A week later, on April 29, the Arch-tempered Ray Dau event quest begins, offering a stronger version of this electrifying foe and the more powerful gamma armour set as a completion reward.

Finally, there's a currently unknown Capcom collaboration coming at the end of May, as well as a host of cosmetic DLC including the most important thing: The ability to change Alma's outfit. Time for me to spend several hours picking the perfect pair of specs for her.

Summer title update

We still don't know a whole lot about the summer update, but Capcom were nice enough to give us a very Lagiacrus-shaped teaser for all of two seconds right at the end of its March Monster Hunter Showcase.

It's undeniably the thunderous leviathan, one which hasn't been seen in a mainline Monster Hunter game since Generations Ultimate back in 2018. Allegedly the monster was cut from World, so it feels damn good to finally see its return.
