Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is the latest mainline entry in the franchise ahead of the release of Monster Hunter Wilds sometime in 2025.

Before delving into Capcom's latest open-world monster-hunting adventure, some players may be looking to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak to prepare their skills.

This beginner's guide will help you master the art of the hunt so you can be ready to face off against new threats.

Try Out Different Weapons

The first thing that you need to get comfortable with is Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's weapons as they are what you use to hunt monsters.

There are a variety of weapon types that you can choose from, including the heavy and powerful Greatsword and the nimble and speedy Dual Swords, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

There are also long-range options such as the Bow and the Light Bowgun that allow you to fire off shots from a safe distance. Knowing which weapon type you want to use or are comfortable using is the key to a successful hunt.

Always Eat a Meal

It is recommended to always eat a meal before going out on a hunt that provides various buffs that can help in taking down the monster that you're looking for.

On top of strengthening you, this will also give your Palico and Palamute their own serving to buff them up as well.

You only have a modest selection of flavors in the beginning, and you get more options the more you progress through the game's story. Keep in mind that after eating, you have to wait another 10 minutes before you can do so again.

Master Switch Skill Swap

A new feature that was introduced in the Sunbreak DLC is the Switch Skill Swap, which allows players to have two completely different fighting styles. It lets you switch between the two with a quick button command, said GameGrin.

This feature is unlocked after you finish a mandatory Training Quest and it is recommended to use that time to get a feel for the system. It would most likely feel weird at the start but mastering it will help you out in your hunts immensely.

Learn How to Use the Wirebug

The biggest new thing in the base game is the wirebug, which opens up maps to an incredible degree of movement and flexibility. This feature also introduces a whole new layer to combat and mastering how to use it is highly recommended.

Using a couple of well-timed bursts could allow you to reach pretty much anywhere and make shortcuts possible to make hunts go by much faster. You can also make use of wirebug attacks that can deal devastating damage to monsters, according to Eurogamer.
