A monkey wearing a pink tutu made a daring escape from a home in Missouri, only to be captured just in time before a winter storm hit the state. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office humorously dubbed the incident as 'Bananas' in a Facebook post.
The spider monkey was first spotted on Friday afternoon at a busy intersection of two highways near the town of Otto, located just south of the St. Louis area. The monkey had somehow slipped out of a nearby residence after opening a door.
After a brief escapade, the small primate was successfully apprehended and returned to its caretaker through what the sheriff's office described as 'careful negotiations and some coaxing.' Photos shared on the sheriff's department's Facebook page captured the heartwarming moment when a deputy knelt down, and the tutu-clad monkey approached and grabbed his hands.
The sheriff's office commended its officers for their adaptability, stating that this incident exemplified their readiness to handle unexpected situations on the job. The timing of the monkey's capture was particularly fortunate, as a winter storm carrying snow and ice hit the region the following day, leading to road closures and a significant drop in temperatures.
