Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis' famous wife and what she does for a living

Martin Lewis has been a key resource of information for Brits this week as the cost-of-living crisis continues to escalate.

The MoneySavingExpert founder fronted Good Morning Britain on Monday and Tuesday as millions of families around the country are pushed towards poverty due to soaring energy bills, fuel prices and record inflation. Martin interviewed Sajid Javid on the first episode of the week and issued a passionate plea to the Health Secretary over the impact the energy price hike could have on people with disabilities and medical conditions.

He said: "People on oxygen concentrators. People on dialysis machine. People with electric wheelchairs are in panic and shock that their lives are going to be cut off because of these energy rises. I know we have cabinet government. I know you sit around that table. Please as Secretary of State for Health, will you champion those people and make sure that we don't disable their lives going forward."

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced his Spring Statement this week and Martin Lewis criticised the support offered as the measures aimed at tackling surging energy bills for households were restricted to a VAT cut for the purchasing of heat pumps, solar panels and insulation. He tweeted: "My head has sunk. I just hope there's a rabbit to come out of the hat."

Although it has been a busy week of campaigning for the finance guru, he also gave his followers an insight into his life away from the screen. Martin shared a throwback video from 2007 of him and his wife issuing advice on mobile haggling.

He said: "I can’t believe we did this film. Here’s me and my then fiancé (now wife) @LaraLewington talking mobile haggling back in 2007."

Martin has been married to Lara Lewington since 2009 and the two became parents to a daughter named Sapphire in 2012. The finance guru regularly describes his wife as Mrs Money Saving Expert and Lara has also forged a successful career as a presenter.

Lara's television breakthrough came in 2003 when she was the weather presenter on Channel 5. She stayed at the channel for six years and worked in a variety of roles, including showbiz correspondent. The 42-year-old eventually moved to Sky News before joining the BBC to work on technology programme Click. She has presented the show alongside Spencer Kelly since 2018.
