Race-hate killer Imran 'Baldy' Shahid's throat has been cut at HMP Grampian, according to a prison source.
The notorious murderer is said to have suffered the injury at the Peterhead facility on Sunday, where he is serving a 25-year sentence.
A prison insider told the Daily Record 45-year-old Shahid's neck was slashed in the incident. They said: "The inmate nicknamed Baldy, the guy that killed Kris Donald, has got a slashed throat."
Police on Monday confirmed the incident to the Record.

Scots schoolgirl left with horrific injuries after being restrained by teachers in classroom
The mother of a young woman who suffered horrific injuries while being restrained at school is demanding cameras in all classrooms where kids with additional needs are taught.
Claire Mooney waited four years before going public about the distressing incident through the Record while she waited for police and council probes to conclude.
She was distraught to learn after her long wait that two teachers who had been charged with causing the injuries to Lyndsay, now 24, would not be prosecuted.
Since that time, in 2018, she has campaigned for better protection for disabled children in schools.

Dundee mum caught in £20k benefits scam after posting holiday snaps online
A mother-of-two who made £20,000 worth of bogus child tax credit claims was caught after posting photographs on Facebook of her family holidays.
Joanna Pawlicka claimed she was a single mother as she spent more than five years claiming benefits she was not entitled to, a court heard.
An investigation was launched after the benefits agency was given a tip-off that Pawlicka was living with her husband Dawid Borucki and he was working full-time.
When they were quizzed, Mr Borucki claimed they were no longer living as a married couple and that he was mainly living in his van throughout the claim period.
He said he would sometimes return to the house to give his wife his dirty washing and did not consider their period together in London to be family holidays.

Scots teacher struck off after she allegedly 'slept with pupil' at prom
A Scots PE teacher who allegedly 'slept with a pupil at a Premier Inn after prom' has been struck off the teaching register.
The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) decided to remove Melissa Tweedie from the teaching register today following an investigation over her behaviour.
Miss Tweedie, 27, was alleged to have slept with an S6 pupil after the leavers night at SWG3 in Glasgow in June 2017.
However the GTCS did not find this allegation proven on the weight of evidence presented to the panel.

The Scheme fears over new fly-on-the-wall Kilmarnock Sheriff Court documentary
Defence solicitors are refusing to take part in a fly-on-the-wall documentary about Kilmarnock Sheriff Court amid fears it will become a repeat of The Scheme.
Lawyers were given a presentation by TV production firm Mentorn on Wednesday over its ambitious proposals to film the Scottish justice system in action.
It’s understood some top court officials are keen on the idea and the meeting was proposed to help win over solicitors who expressed concerns.
But the majority of those who practice in the town’s court remain staunchly opposed to appearing in any show.
