Huge fire rips through house in Perth as neighbours evacuated
A devastating early morning fire has gutted a house in Perth.
Four fire engines were sent to James Street in the city after the blaze took hold shortly before 6am. Video footage of the inferno shows huge flames and black smoke billowing from the roof of the property. The top floor of the residential property appears to have been charred by the inferno.
Residents in the street were evacuated as a precautionary measure as fire crews on a height appliance used a hose to dampen down the scene via an upstairs window. It is understood crews are still in attendance.
Mum almost died of cervical cancer after routine smear test error
A mum almost died of cervical cancer after being given the wrong result for a routine smear.
Sarah Feighan, 32, is urging people to turn up for every smear test and to be sure their results have been recorded accurately.
Sarah – who was given the wrong results by Forth Valley Health Board – was diagnosed with “neuroendocrine small cell cancer” in 2018 and had surgery, including the removal of her womb.
Damage caused by the operation has left her unable to urinate naturally and she will have to use a catheter for life, making her prone to infections.
Blind woman set upon by gang on Scots train as police launch probe
Police have launched a probe after a blind woman was set upon by a group of girls on a Scots train.
The 60-year-old was followed by the group who yelled abuse at her until she got off the service between Balloch and Airdrie. The incident happened shortly before 7pm on Monday, July 25 and the British Transport Police are appealing for information as they hunt for those responsible.
Officers said the blind woman was assaulted by the group on the train as it was travelling between Dumbarton Central and Drumry, in West Dunbartonshire.
Pervert Scots dad who boasted of 'micro' penis during vile chats with decoy child jailed
A Scots dad who boasted about his “micro” penis to a decoy teenager before being outed by three paedophile hunter groups has been jailed for more than two years. Allan McCormick believed he had been speaking to a 12-year-old girl online when he sent her twisted chats about his “tiny little thing” and telling her she was “out of my league”.
The 52-year-old, from Glasgow, then sent videos of himself masturbating to two other girls, who he thought were aged 12 and 13, but the accounts actually belonged to adults posing as children. The married father-of-two, who claimed he was a virgin, also shared a bizarre video clip of himself urinating in a toilet before asking for explicit sexual images from the youngster.
McCormick was caught after being lured to a meeting in Glasgow city centre under the pretence that a 22-year-old woman wanted to go on a date with him in September 2018.
No prosecution for 300,000 Scots who failed to complete census forms
Not one person is being prosecuted for failing to return Scottish Census forms, it has emerged.
Refuseniks who did not fill in details about everyone who was in their home on census night were warned they risked being taken to court and fined up to £1000.
Despite the threat, almost 300,000 people failed to complete the forms on time, even though the deadline was extended by more than a month.
