A blonde mum was snared for her role in a gang attack on a drunk partygoer after being identified by her “very distinctive” hair.

Courtney Ellwood, 21, was part of a group who battered Fraser Brown in a dawn assault in Edinburgh and left him covered in blood.

The victim refused to cooperate with police, but cops were able to pick out Ellwood on CCTV due to her tresses.

Fraser was the boyfriend of one of Ellwood’s pals and was jumped after leaving a drinking session.

Mum-of-two stole £100,000 fortune from employer to fund lavish Instagram lifestyle

A court has heard how a mum stole £100,000 from her employer to fund a lavish Instagram lifestyle that she could not afford. Laura Howarth, 41, treated herself to hair extensions, VIP concert tickets and a white SUV at the expense of her employer.

The finance assistant wanted to emulate the lifestyles of other glamorous women including her boss's wife by plastering her expensive taste all over social media. In reality, Laura was a mum-of-two who earned just over £900 a month.

Owing thousands in payday loans, she began stealing from the company, only stopping when she went on holiday and maternity leave, Lancs Live reports. Preston Crown Court heard Howarth, of Devona Avenue, Blackpool, even applied for extensions to credit card limits to allow her to steal up to £6,000 a month. When the thefts came to light, in August 2018, she claimed she had shared the money with her colleagues at British Independent Utilities.

But jailing her for 10 months, Judge Richard Gioserano said: "You stole a great deal of money to provide a lifestyle you couldn't afford - a glimpse of which can be seen on your Instagram account."

In 2013, Howarth was employed by the Times Top 100 company and entrusted to take care of the petty cash and expense accounts. But Stuart Neale, prosecuting, said she started stealing 'almost immediately'. In August that year she withdrew £50 from a Royal Bank of Scotland ATM, despite cash withdrawals being forbidden by the company.

Jeremy Hunt 'doubling down on austerity' as he tears up Liz Truss's mini-budget

Jeremy Hunt has been accused of "doubling down on austerity" after he warned that "eye-wateringly difficult" decisions were needed as he tore up Liz Truss's economic strategy.

The new Chancellor scaled back the energy support package and ditched "almost all" the tax cuts announced by his predecessor Kwasi Kwarteng less than a month ago as he tried to restore economic stability following weeks of turmoil on the financial markets.

Truss became Prime Minister after winning the Tory leadership contest on the back of promises to dramatically cut tax, and the wholesale abandonment of the policies has left her fighting for her job after just six weeks.

She sat next to her new Chancellor in the Commons as he ditched huge chunks of her plan.
