Scot accused of sex club shooting of crime writer was 'petting cat' at time of alleged murder

A murder suspect was stroking a pet cat at the time a Dutch crime writer was gunned down in the street, a court heard.

A police informant told jurors Christopher Hughes, 33, made the claims in connection with the shooting of Martin Kok, 49, outside a sex club in the town of Laren in the Netherlands on December 8, 2016.

Hughes was allegedly told by a crime boss that Mr Kok was shot amid an arrangement with Moroccan gangsters known as ‘The Roccies’.

Three British ex-special forces troops feared dead after Russian airstrike near Poland

Three British ex-special forces troops are feared dead following a Russian airstrike near the Polish border.

It is believed they died instantly in the cruise missile blasts after a deadly Russian airstrike on a base near to Poland - which neighbours Ukraine.

The attack is understood to have killed “many scores more” than was previously reported, with possibly well over 100 dead.

Sources told the Daily Mirror the three men were not part of the foreign fighters unit that was being trained at the now destroyed Yavoriv base, which is just six miles from the Polish border.

Tributes have been paid to a 'beautiful young lady' who died in a car crash on a Scots road yesterday.

Beth Mae Damer has been named locally as the 20-year-old who passed away in the incident which took place at around 4.30pm on the A72 at Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Devastated pals have flocked to social media to express their sadness following the tragedy.
