Monaco could use some of the £85m raised from the sale of midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to sign Liverpool star Takumi Minamino.
A report in The Times claims the Ligue 1 outfit currently lead the race for the Japan international, who is free to leave Anfield this summer after two-and-a-half years with the club. Liverpool are believed to value Minamino at £17 million.
Monaco have money to spend after selling Tchouameni to Champions League winners Real Madrid, despite big interest from both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds missed out on the 22-year-old as he favoured a move to the La Liga giants.

Now, it appears they're targeting Liverpool's Minamino and they're reportedly eager to beat Premier League sides to his signature. A number of English sides have been linked with the 27-year-old, including Wolves, Southampton, Fulham and Leeds.
Minamino has struggled for game time under Jurgen Klopp, despite an impressive loan spell at Southampton in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign. Last season, he made just 24 appearances in all competitions.
Despite the lack of minutes, he still produced an impressive goal tally of 10 with some crucial goals in the run to win both domestic cups. The player's versatility will be attractive to potential buyers as he can operate anywhere across a front three, as well as in a deeper attacking midfield role.
Minamino may not be the only departure this summer as Sadio Mane is also attracting interest from across Europe. Bayern Munich currently lead the race for the Senegalese, but are yet to match Liverpool's valuation of the player.
